The Smart Support is free-standing, allowing you to easily get your child in and out even when you’re alone. And its ventilated back support, rain hood, and 3 position adjustable seat means you and your baby can move in comfort and security while they grow.
Comfort & Convenience Features
For your comfort, the Chicco Smart Support child backpack carrier offers padded shoulder and waist straps plus a padded and ventilated back and lumbar support area. This is an especially welcome feature, as it reduces the heat and strain on your back while you walk.
- Weight max is 40 lbs
This Chicco backpack carrier comes with two zippered bags, one of which is on the shoulder straps and sized for a mobile phone. The detachable waistpack is perfect for your wallet, keys, glasses, etc.
For Baby’s Comfort & Safety
The Chicco Smart Support’s padded seat adjusts to three positions to accommodate his or her growth. The attached hood protects their sensitive skin from the sun, and the zip on/off rain cover keeps the elements at bay.
The kickstand folds in while you walk, then pops back out when you need to get your child in or out of the seat safely. It also doubles as their footrest.
Comparison
The Chicco Smart Support is the most inexpensive baby backpack carrier at ChildCarriers.com. The closest comparison would be the Deuter Kid Aircomfort baby backpack. The Deuter has more padding in the straps, but does not include a rain/sun hood like the Chicco Smart Support.

I use my backpack all the time…and love it. My daughter and I go for hikes in the forests all the time, and usually she is so comfortable that she is sleeping in the pack by the end of the hike. For a day hike, I would definately recommend this pack!!

I purchased this backpack to be more mobile but once I put it on with the baby in it (9 months/20 lbs.)I could only walk about a block and had to turn back as it hurt my back so much I had to get it off. The pressure is all on the lower back. This is going back.

I purchased this to replace the front carrier that my daughter is growing out of. I like it o.k. My husband had to completely disassemble the straps in order to get it to work correctly, it is a bit bulky but remember I have been using a front carrier.
good for baby…

once we got my son, 19months 25lbs in the pack he liked it very well. We did a test walk around the block (3miles) and both my husband 6′ and I 5’5 found it very uncomfortable. It seems like the weight doesn’t distribute correctly. we will be returning it

This pack worked great until today when I went to fold it up after we came back from our hike something inside the folding mechanism on the leg broke. So if you buy or have bought this pack be careful when you fold it up.
A great carrier, especially for the price

I used the Baby Bjorn with lumbar support for my daughter until she was 8 1/2 months old and 19 lbs. Now we (both my husband and I) use the Chicco Smart Support baby backpack. Our daughter loves it, it is VERY comfortable for my husband – he is 6 feet tall, and it is easy for one person to put the baby into the carrier and onto one’s own back. I find it to be a little cumbersome and a bit heavy for my lower back, but I have only used it a couple of times and am so used to the Baby Bjorn that it probably just takes a little getting used to (I am 5′ 1″).

Used it with our 9 month old to travel all over Italy and he loved it! So much so that he would fall asleep in it, very comfortable for the child and parent. Highly recommend it.

My husband and I went camping and took this with to carry our 18 month old daughter. She absolutely loved being able to see everything as we hiked through the woods, and my husband found the backpack very comfortable!

I have a front baby carrier but it fits my 6’5″ husband better that myself. This one is way more comfortable, less work trying to use it and I’m able to do must more while wearing it, plus my 6 month old daughter loves being higher up than the front carries and seeing all the sights.
